Having trouble connecting to the Internet at home try these steps before calling for help.
1. Do you have an Ip address? Try ipconfig /all. If you do not have an Ip address reboot your Pc. If that doesn’t work power cycle your Cable/Dsl modem and routers and reboot your Pc again after the network devices are up and stable. Be sure all of your network cables are plugged in tight.
2. After your Pc reboots check that your network adapter is active and packets are flowing. Accomplish the ipconfig /all check again.
3. Check your connectivity by pinging some Internet sites. If that does not work, ping the loopback address 127.0.0.1. If that fails, your adapter may not be working or it is not properly configured.

Q2 Error Message: Maximum whole of sessions reached
Cause: This indicates that the maximum whole of users for the account you are using are currently logged on.
Action: If you are the only user with Vpn to your account, it is possible to get this error if you restarted a connection immediately after losing the dial-up connection to your Isp. This is because the Contivity Vpn Switch takes up to one hour to conclude that your connection has been dropped and log you off from your account.
Q3 Error Message: Login failed, Please consult the switch log for added information
Cause: The User Name or the Password is incorrect for the user name entered.
Action: Verify that the User Name you entered is correct and retype the Password before trying the connection again.

Cause: Your connection to your Isp was disconnected.

Q5 Error Message: The get Contivity connection has been lost

Cause(s):
If you receive this error before the client connects then something is blocking a vital port (such as Esp port 50). This can result if your firewall is not configured properly and is restricting the vital port(s).

Hang up the dial-up connection and reconnect before you try to re-establish a connection to the Contivity Vpn Switch;
3. If you are still unable to join together to the Contivity Vpn Switch, open a Command Prompt and try pinging the Contivity Vpn Switch using the host name or address that you specified in the Destination field.
(a) If you receive a “Destination Unreachable error” there is a routing qoute at the Isp.
(b) If you receive a “Request Timed Out” error message, the Contivity Vpn Switch is probably not available, and you should caress your Network Administrator.
4. If you keep getting this message and are unable to connect, then it may indicate that the Contivity Vpn Switch is unable to divulge with the client because it is behind some kind of Nat (Network Address Translation) device. Nat (Network Address Translation) Traversal allows a whole of devices on a secret network to entrance the Internet simultaneously without each requiring its own external Ip address. Action: If you receive this error and cant join together due to an Icmp redirect attempt, shut down any other applications you are using which may be causing the Icmp redirect attempt. If it is the Isp that is doing it, you will need to block the Icmp redirect request. You can recognize that Icmp redirect has occurred, by finding a message saying there has been an Ip address routing table change.
Q7 Error Message: Receiving Banner Text Information
Cause: Message means you are experiencing a Banner Sock issue, and will see a window displaying the “Receiving Banner Text” message and then gets disconnected.
Actions:
1. Disable the firewall thoroughly to test. This is a port 500 issue and often means that the you have a personal Firewall that is blocking port 500 or you have a router that does not reserve Ipsec pass-through, and the you are connecting to a Vpn switch that does not have Nat Traversal enabled.
2. If using wireless, temporarily remove Wireless from the photograph and focus on the Ethernet card. Check the Ethernet card speed and duplex parameters and then make sure that the hub, switch, or router that is on the other end has the same parameters. If not, the Vpn connection will drop as the link goes up and down, or due to a large whole of errors on the port from a duplex and or speed mismatch.
3. Firewall that blocks the connection, such that law will crash. (This will rarely happen) Nsdf (Norton Symantec Desktop Firewall) and Nspf (Norton Symantec Personal Firewall) can do this though, if you do not trust the Ip address of the Vpn connection.
If you do not trust the Vpn address of the Vpn client, the firewall will cause you to crash. In your Internet browser click on “Tools > Internet Options > protection > Trusted Sites > Sites” and add the destination Vpn address(es) to your trusted sites.

Cause: You may have installed to many virtual adapters in your Ip Stack
Actions:
1. remove any unnecessary adapters;

Error (1): Failed to get Registry key value for Nt_Ipsecshm
Cause: This is caused because an important registry key that cannot be found in the law registry.
Actions:
1. Uninstall and Reinstall the Vpn Software
Error (2): Login Failure due to: Driver Failure
Cause: This is generally caused by either not having Admin proprietary to the Pc or by trying to install/use a Nortel Vpn client that predates the operating system.
Actions:
1. Ensure that you have admin proprietary to the Pc.
2. Update/Install the most current version of the Nortel Vpn client.
Error (3): Originate socket failed with 10048.
Cause: This qoute generally will occur whenever you have another Vpn client software installed on the system. The most noted conflicting clients are: Aol, Cisco Vpn Client(s), Ssh Sentinel and Pgp.
Actions:
1. Removing these clients will in most cases, conclude the issue.

This is first article from two part series finding at the seemingly easy task of setting up Internet association to protection Dvr. While this article will focus on general steps complex in allowable association forwarding to Cctv Dvr, the part two is all about dynamic Dns withhold and workarounds. Before we step into the main subject, I like to clarify very briefly a few key aspects of Internet association for those of us not familiar with term like Ip address, Ddns, port forwarding or Ip mapping.
Terminology:
Local Modem
Every computer or other network device, in our case Cctv recorder has its own address called Ip address, much like your home address it allows the facts to find its way in large world of internet. Ip address has four groups of numbers separated by dots; the number range is in the middle of 0 and 255. There are two cut off networks that we need to take into consideration, Lan for Local Area Network and Wan for Wide Area Network. Lan has its own Ip addresses and handles association on local network devices (computers or devices placed in your home or office network), if Wan Ip is your home address than Lan Ip would be your apartment number.
Wan Ip is an external address graphic to every user on the Internet. We will clarify rest of the terminology as we go along.
Setup:
The best way to clarify and clarify surveillance Dvr association setup is to use an example. In our example, we will setup Dvr model Vdv-074 from Dvrexperts straight through Netopia Router/Modem combo currently used by At&T Dsl provider with static Ip service, I will also use Linksys Wrt54G Router for Cable Dsl connection. protection Dvr recorder needs to be related to the Internet straight through Router and Modem, in some cases Router and Modem are all in one devices, for example Netopia Routers.
For standalone Modems please associate the Internet out to Wan port, on your Router. associate Cctv Dvr and computers to ready ports on the Router as well. Your Router will need to be setup now to log in to the Internet assistance provider and form connection.
Netopia Router users:
Open up browser on your computer and type into the address bar your routers default Ip http://
192.168.1.254. User name and password window should appear; the default user name and password for Netopia Routers are admin for user and serial number of your Router for the password.
Select Configure followed by Quick start link, type your Internet assistance providers user name (email address) and your Isp password. Click submit and alert icon placed in upper right corner (I know it is strange), finally elect save and restart. Your association should be up in little or so, click home link to see your association status.
Linksys Router users:
Open up browser on your computer and type into the address bar your routers default Ip [http://192.168.1.1]. User name and password window should appear; the default user name and password for Linksys routers are admin for user and admin for the password.
The home page of the router has Isp settings, type in your email address as a user name and Isp password for the password, elect save or submit. The Router will restart after little or so, log in again and go to status page to see if your association status is Up.
If all things is ok and your association is Up, we can now go forward to fun part of the setup process

In the Dvr menu, setup static Lan (Internal) Ip for the Dvr, in our example we have 3 computers and Dvr. Each gadget has assigned Lan Ip address as follows:
Computer 1 – 192.168.1.100
Computer 2 – 192.168.1.101
Computer 3 – 192.168.1.102
Dvr – 192.168.1.103
The surveillance Dvr will now be accessible within our network by typing its assigned internal Ip (192.168.1.103) into browser or association software. What we need now is to send the association from external Ip (Wan) which is accessible from covering of our network to the Lan Ip of the Dvr (192.168.1.103).
Netopia Router users:

You probably noticed the term static Ip in this article, and are wondering what that is.
Well, static Ip is what the name suggests an Ip that never changes. While there is no qoute with internal Ip selection; we can use anyone we want or prefer – the external Ip, usually is dynamic. Modem
You can purchase further hours to the card. Adding 20 hours of time is 150 Baht (around .50 Usd) The Usb card itself houses a Sim card just like the Sim card that goes into your phone. In fact, you can swap Ais Sim cards in the middle of your phone and Usb card if you want. The Usb card has software built-in and I successfully Installed it on Windows Xp and Windows 7 laptops. I was not able to get the card to work with Mac Os X. The software works just like any other dial-up/3G/4G modem where you click a button to join together and disconnect from the Internet.
Why test Edge and not 3G? Well, Thailand is currently caught up in legal problems with wireless carriers about allocating 3G frequencies so the current 3G offerings are very limited. Edge is the best selection for nationwide coverage unfortunately. In fact, Thailand might be better off leapfrogging 3G and going right to a 4G technology such as WiMax or Lte. I wrote an report for Network World magazine in 2009 with regard to a Cisco pilot schedule testing WiMax at a University in Northern Thailand. Currently, the monthly cost for this service is 590 Baht ( Usd) a month which includes a Dsl modem/router The speed test showed a much lower download number receiving approximately 1779Kbps down and 371Kbps up.
Lastly, I tested a second popular Dsl carrier in Thailand called 3Bb. The Adsl tested is same to the Tot offerings being 4000 Kbps download and 512 Kbps upload speeds. The monthly price for the service with an included Dsl modem router is also the same as Tot at 590 Baht per month. Unlike the Tot service test, the 3Bb download speeds were spot on. In terms of upload speeds, 3Bb was a tiny bit lower than the Tot Adsl relationship that was tested. The 3Bb speed test found speeds of 4060 Kbps down and 310 Kbps up.
Please keep in mind that this is just one persons test. Your results might vary depending on location and time of day. Based on these tests, if I were to choose a Dsl provider, I would go with 3Bb for the far classic download test. If I nothing else but relied on frequent uploads, I would choose the Tot Dsl connection. Lastly, if I needed a mobile Internet solution, I would have to go with Ais’s Edge…although 3Bb’s upload speeds were fairly close and seem to burst at higher speeds.
